PlayStation

             The play Station(PS) is a series of video game console created and developed by Sony Computer Entertainments. The first brand was released on December 3, 1994 in Japan with the lunch of the original Play Station Console. The first console in the series, the PlayStation, was the first video game console to ship 100 million unites in 9 years and 6 months after its initial lunch. Its successor the PlayStation 2, which was released in 2000 is the best selling home console to date, having reached over 150 million units sold as of January 31, 2011  .Sony's latest console, the PlayStation 3 was released in 2006 has sold over 75 million consoles world wide.
              The first handheld game console in the PlayStation series, the Play Station Portable or PSP, has sold over a total of 72 million units worldwide as of September 14, 2011. Its successor, the PlayStation Vita,  which lunched in Japan in December 17,2011 and in most other major territories in February 2012 has sold in excess of 1.2 million units as of the end or February 2012.

                                            CONSOLES

    PlayStation- The original PlayStation was released on 3rd December, 1994 which was the part of the the fifth generation of the video game consoles competing against the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64. By Match 31, 2005, the play station and the PS-one(a smaller version of the original)  had shipped a combined total of 102.49 million units, becoming the first video game console to sell 100 million units.
 
    PlayStation 2- Released in 2000, PlayStation 2 is part of the six generation of video game consoles competing against the Xbox and the Nintendo GameCube. It had backwards-compatible due to which it was able to play the games from the original PlayStation. It is the most successful home console in the world, having sold over 150 million units as of January 31, 2011. After four years of the lunch of the original PlayStation 2, PS2 slimline was the first major redesign of the PlayStation 2. This version of PS2 was smaller, thinner , quieter and also included a built in Ethernet port. From 2007 they began shipping a revision of the Slimline which was lighter then the original Slimline together with a lighter AC adapter.

  PlayStation 3- Released on November 17, 2006 in North America, the PlayStation 3 is a seventh generation game console  competing with the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The PS3 is the first console in the series to introduce the use of  motion-sensing technology through its Six-axis wireless controller. The PS3 was originally offered with either a 20 GB or 60 GB hard drive, but over the year its capacity increased and is available up to 500 GB. The PS3 has sold over 78 million. Like its predecessors, the PS3 was re-released in 2009 as a "slim" model which was 33% smaller, 36% lighter, and consumes 34% to 45% less power.It sold in excess of a million units within its first 3 weeks on sale. The PS3 slim also runs quieter and is cooler than the previous models due to its 45 nm Cell. In 2012, Sony revealed a new "Super Slim" PlayStation 3. This model was 3-4.3 pounds lighter than the previous "slim" model. The console comes with either a 250 GB or 500 GB hard drive.

  PlayStation 4- The PlayStation 4 is an upcoming video game console for the Sony Computer Entertainment announced at a press conference on the February 20, 2013. In the meeting, Sony revealed some hardware specifications of the new console. This eight-generation system is expected to lunch in the forth quarter of 2013. Among the new applications and services, Sony will introduce the PlayStation App, allowing PS4 owners to turn smartphones and tablets into a second screen to enhance the gameplay.
